Taking A Break For The Holidays.

In my last post I mentioned that Abby's Web will be continuing which is still true.

However, since it is the end of the semester and the holiday season I will be taking a small break for a couple of weeks. The break will start Monday December 21st and go until January 10th 2010. During that time I will be getting ready for Christmas as well as going out of town.

For all of you Abby's Web readers don't you worry, I will be back. I am just taking a break for the Holidays. So until then I hope you have a safe and happy holiday and please stay tuned.

Carrying On My Passion For NCIS.

It's that time of year when college students are finishing up their semesters at school. Being a college student that goes for me also.

Now, I know what you're thinking: does that mean that Abby's Web is going to end? Well the answer is no. Abby's Web will continue on.

I have enjoyed sharing my passion for NCIS with you, and I look forward to continuing that relationship with you my readers, and maybe get some new readers.

When you think of NCIS, you can't help but think of the forensic scientist Abby Sciuto. She is played by actress Pauley Perrette. Now, the question is: why do fans love Abby? Is it because of her Goth look, her lovable nature, or perhaps the way that she is always sticking up for her friends and family? I think it's all of the above.

As a fan of the show, and a fan of Abby's, I can personally say that I love the way that she dresses. In a previous post, I talked about how I went to a Halloween party as Abby. I'm not the only one who likes to dress up as Abby, and if a fan wants to dress the way that she does they're in luck. They can purchase her style. That's right: Pauley Perrette and Rachel Good, the show's costume designer, made sure that her style would be available to fans of the show.

Her style is not the only thing that fans of the show love. It is because of the way that she would do anything and everything to help someone out if they were in trouble. I think that it's also the way that she is the complete opposite of the typical gothic person. I mean she is funny, she is upbeat, and she is quirky. I think that another reason why fans love Abby is because she is such relatable character.

When I watch her on the show, I can relate to her. I mean, it's not the fact that she is a forensic scientist that I can relate to, but I can relate to the way that she is always wanting to protect and do things for her team- mates.

In terms of helping people, I always want to help people in any way that I can. Like Abby, I try to be there and comfort my friends whenever they need it. I can also relate to the way that she wants everyone to be happy. The reason for that is because I always want people to be happy. So I guess I can see a part of myself in her.

Presidential Address Leads To An NCIS Re-Run.

Watching NCIS is a constant of mine, it is a part of my weekly routine. It is so much a part of my routine that if I don't watch it my week is all off. I know that might seem crazy to some, it's just that when I watch the show it makes everything seem right with the world.

Now, you may be thinking why am I bringing this up? The reason is because there wasn't a new episode on this week, but a re-run because of the presidential address. It was also on at 9:00 instead of 8:00. Now, don't get me wrong I like hearing what the president has to say about the important issues, it's just--please don't do it during my show--. I wish they had done the address on a different night.

I guess the thing of it is that it was such a surprise to me. I was expecting to see a new episode of the show this past Tuesday, with new witty remarks and nick names that Tony has for McGee. I was looking forward to seeing the head slaps from Gibbs, and what come back Ziva would have for Tony. I also wanted to see Abby. I was surprised when I was all ready for the show, and it didn't. I have to be honest, I wasn't happy.

I would have much rather been watching a new episode of NCIS. Watching that new episode on Tuesdays is a time for me to relax and unwind, it's me time. This might sound crazy, but not seeing a new episode this week has me feeling like "Oh no I need my me time." I needed my NCIS fix. I still do, so I am anxiously waiting next Tuesday's episode.

Please CBS don't let me down.

Tony Dinozzo's Movie Reference's: Link Round-Up.

There are many things that fans love about Tony Dinozzo on NCIS. One of the things that I love about him, besides his being cute, and quirky, is how much of a movie buff he is. I think the reason that I love that quality is because I love movies myself.

The movie references that Tony makes often connect to his real life. In the second season in the episode titled "SWAK" Tony contracts the plague when he opens an envelope sent to NCIS. When he gets the virus, he is then put in isolation. While in isolation, he references the movie "Boy In The Plastic Bubble." In doing so, he tells Kate (a former agent) how he feels like the character that John Travolta plays in that movie.

Although Tony is the show's movie buff, he is not the only one who makes movie references in the show. In an episode in the third season called "Honor Code," there is an Austin Powers reference made by Gibbs. He is talking to Abby and she is saying how the kid in that episode is like Gibbs when he was younger, and Gibbs then replies "Are you saying Zack is a mini-me?" I thought that was awesome.

On an interesting "insiders" note, two television shows that Tony loves to reference are Magnum P.I and Airwolf. I find that to be really ironic because those two shows are produced by Donald Bellisario, who is the executive producer of NCIS.

Besides his movie references, he also likes to do impressions of his favorite characters and actors from his favorite movies. There are impressions that Tony does of characters that he likes. One impression that he does is of Sean Connery as James Bond.

I love how movies and television imitate life; or rather what we want our life to be. I think one of the reasons that Tony references these movies is not only because he is a fan of them, but also because he as an image of the perfect life. It seems as though he watches those movies to attain that image.

9:02: So ends another fantastic episode of NCIS. I hope you enjoyed my live-blogging with you.

8:59: After saying that they could not make it to Ducky's house for thanksgiving, the team is there enjoying a nice thanksgiving dinner. Yes, Gibbs brought the rolls.

8:55: After talking to Angela's mother, Ziva, and Gibbs see Angela run into her house where her mother is. Here comes the twist, the teacher Norvel that Angela was seen with in the first couple of scenes, turns out to be the killer. I love the twists in the show.

8:53: Upon finding out that Angela is missing, Gibbs interrogates Angela's mother about using the kids at the think tank to make money, by selling military secrets. Yes, I knew it, Angela's mother is guilty.

8:46: Angela is gone, she asks Ducky and Ziva what there is to do at Ducky's house. She goes to the library. Ducky calls for a hand to help with turkey, she is gone.

8:44: Playing a game of checkers, Gibbs talks to Angela about the military secrets. He asks her questions about the jamming signals in her art work.

8:40: Is Angela to blame?

8:39: Looking at the jamming signal's image in the main squad room, Tony tries to make sense of it. Gibbs comes by and slaps Tony on the back of the head. I love when Gibbs slaps Tony.

8:36: Is Angela's mother in on it?

8:35: Strange, have not yet seen Ray Mabus.

8:34: In Abby's Lab, Gibbs discovers that Angela was hiding military secrets in her drawings. I knew something was up with her.

8:31: Eddy the fellow gang member returns and talks to Dinozzo. He talks to him about why he was talking with the dead marine. He said that he was talking to him for advice.

8:25: Gibbs goes to Ducky's office. Talking about the crime Ducky takes a turkey out of the freezers. That's kind of creepy.

8:23: Yaaaay, it's Abby. Seeing Gibbs she say's "what can I do for you Giblet?" Love it.

8:21: Gibbs is talking to Angela, the girl that was close to the dead marine. He takes her in to custody for safe keeping.

8:20: After going through the dead marines phone records, Tony question's Eddy. He is a member of the gang that the dead marine was in

8:16: In the middle of talking to Angela, Gibbs gets a call. He goes to a car that has been abandoned and is seen as the crime scene.

8:15: Angela, a young girl who works at the think tank is asked about her relationship with the dead marine.

8:10: The team goes to a government think tank, where the dead marine works. The room that they enter is full of children playing video games.

8:07: It was awesome seeing Ducky hand out Thanksgiving invitations to the team. While Tony calls McGee "McTim." Gibbs comes in and say's: "dead marine in a corn field."

8:06: The show opens with two kids running through a corn field. They stop at a scare crow, they see blood driping from the scare crow. They remove the mask and find a body.

8:00: NCIS is starting!

In tonight's episode of NCIS titled "Child's Play," sources say that Ray Mabus will grace us with his presence. I wonder who he will be playing? I am anxious to see what new name Tony has for McGee. I am also curious to see the tension between Ziva and Tony. For the next hour I will be live-blogging the show, as well as sharing my comment's with you. I hope you enjoy.

Guess Whose Guest Starring On NCIS: Link Round-Up.

With hit shows there are individuals that are brought in to play a specific character. Those characters might not be regulars on the show. Those individuals are said to be making a cameo, or guest starring. Since Ray Mabus will be guest starring on NCIS, I thought that it would be fun to see who else will be showing up at NCIS in the near future.

On the 15th of December in an episode titled "Faith," there will be several big name guests on the show. The first of the guest stars will be actor Joe Regalbuto. He will be making an appearance on the show as a reverend grieving over the death of his son. Now, if you don't recognize the name on its own, you might remember the name Frank Fontana, from the long running television show "Murphy Brown." I think that is really cool, I watched the show all the time when I was younger.

Another actor who is going to be in the December 15th episode of NCIS is Corey Reynolds. He has a role on the hit series "The Closer." Reynolds will be playing the role of a navy chaplain who will be helping Gibbs, Tony, McGee, Ziva, Abby and Ducky during their investigation. I love how he portrays his character David Gabriel on his show. I am looking forward to seeing what he brings to his character on NCIS. As a fan, it is awesome to see an actor from one criminal investigation show come in and help out another. Making a re-appearance as Gibbs's father: Ralph Waite will be visiting NCIS in that episode as well.

In addition, the next episode that is going to have an awesome guest appearance is the 150th episode of the show. That episode will air on January 10th 2010. In that episode actor Robert Wagner is going to be making a guest appearance. He will be playing Tony Dinozzo's father. It is my opinion that he is the best person for the job. I feel this way because in 2004 Michael Weatherly played Robert Wagner in the television movie The Mystery of Natalie Wood.

In conclusion, it is my belief that the diversity of talents scheduled to appear in the future, will bring a significant amount of success and entertainment value to an already successful show.

NCIS: Power Outage.

Last night's episode, made me think just how much we rely on technology.

It starts out with a guy playing a game on his computer. In the middle of his game he loses his internet connection. The scene then switches over to a shooting that was taking place at an internet company called Swift Cast. This shooting resulted in a city-wide blackout.

In the episode, Gibbs, Tony, McGee, Ziva, Abby, and Ducky, investigate the death of a Lieutenant killed during the shooting. There was only one problem, the blackout left them without the use of technology. This caused them to do everything in the investigation by hand. For example, Abby had to do her forensic analysis without her mass-spectrometer, or any other technology.

I liked seeing how the team functioned without the technology they normally use. I especially liked the part where McGee made the reference to using search engines. I am always on my computer, and without it I don't know where I would be.

Even without the technology they normally use the case was solved, and in the end of the episode the power was restored.

Director Leon Vance, Not So Heartless.

Since I started watching NCIS, there has been a change in command. What I mean by this is that there has been a change in the Director of NCIS. When I began watching the show, Director Jenny Shephard was in charge. When she was killed off Assistant Director Lean Vance took her place as the Director.

In an earlier post, I stated that I didn't like Director Leon Vance.When he took Jennie's place I immediately thought he was double-crossing everyone. I also thought that he didn't have heart. The main reason is that, when he first started as the NCIS Director, he separated the team. He sent Tony to work on a Navy ship, Ziva was sent back to Israel, and McGee was sent to work in the Cyber Crime Unit.

Thankfully the team came back together. At the end of season six, Ziva left the team and was taken hostage. In the beginning of this season when the team wanted to get Ziva back he didn't do anything. That alone, added to my not liking him.

I saw him in a different light in last weeks episode titled "Endgame," in which he shows his human, softer side. There was a specific incident that brought this change, and that was because Lee Wuan Kai whom he has been chasing for a long time, has returned.

When he first realized that she was back,Vance began remembering when he first had contact with Kai, and when she killed his partner. His softer, human side first emerges when he is talking to Gibbs about Kai killing his partner, and how he was left with just a bullet wound. Seeing Vance show his feelings has caused me to change my view of him. I no longer see him as heartless, I now see him as someone who has feelings, and does in fact care about people.

All that said, I am still not happy with the fact that he split up the team when he first started, and that he would not have any part in getting Ziva back in the beginning of this season. I see now that he was not doing it out of spite, or dislike for the other NCIS team members, but rather that he was only doing his job. So I can honestly say that instead of seeing Vance as a cold heartless individual, I now see him as someone who has a heart, and cares about people.

The Technology In Abby's Lab: Link Round-Up.

Spending the past week blogging for Deliverin' Data, I was inspired to write my next link round-up. That said, I am going to shake things up a bit. Instead of concentrating on one of the actor's careers, I am going to look into the equipment, and technology that Abby Sciuto uses in her lab.

In any forensics crime lab, there are specific procedures that are done in order to figure out who did the crime, and how it happened. Those procedures often require the use of a particular type of technology. In NCIS the same technology is used in Abby's Lab.

One of the major pieces of equipment that Abby uses is called a mass spectrometer. This piece of equipment is used to analyze the different chemical compounds that are found in a victim's system. If the victim has been poisoned Abby can figure out the chemical that was used with the mass spectrometer.

The mass spectrometer is not the only technology that Abby uses in her lab. While completing her forensic analysis she uses computers, plasma screens, microscopes, and an Automated Fingerprint Identification System. That system is also called refered to as AFIS. Abby uses this software when she is trying to find a match for a fingerprint that she got off a piece of evidence.

When Abby is trying to find out how a victim was shot, or what type of gun was used she attempts to recreate the situation. In doing so she uses a system called a Ballistic Calculator. There are several types of ballistic calculators, but the process is the same. Abby takes the logistics of the gun shot, and puts them in a software program that determines what happened.

It is really interesting to think about how Abby solves the different crimes, as well as the various types of equipment that she uses. I hope you enjoyed finding out the technology used in Abby's Lab.

ASL in NCIS [K. Moore]

A couple of weeks ago, when I was asked to guest blog here, I caught a few minutes of one of NCIS's re-runs. In the short segment that I saw, I was suprised to see Abby signing.

I took an American Sign Language class at SCCC as my language requirement for my degree. I chose ASL because, at the time, my oldest son was about two-years-old and was having trouble developing his language skills. I worked with a speech therapist shortly after discovering his delay and it was per the expert's suggestion that we include a visual when communicating with my son.

So, she gave me some handouts which showed common signs to use with babies, and me and my son soon began to communicate beyond our verbal language. Later on, we would also include pictures for learning new skills such as toileting, bed time routines, etc.

As one of the requirements of the course, we had to attend two ASL events.

One event that I attended was the play "It's a Wonderful Life" which we saw performed at NYSTI. This showing had a sign language interpreter who stood side stage. At times, it was more entertaining to watch the woman signing than the actual staged performance. I do not mean to say that it was a bad show at all. Instead, I am just stressing how intriguing it was to watch someone communicate using sign language.

The second event was Deaf Bowling. There was a group of deaf people living in the area who bowled in a league once every two weeks at a local bowling ally in Latham. The name of the place escapes me right now, and I am not even sure if it's still in existence.

This event was kind of awkward.

A few of my classmates came with me, and at first, we stood off to the side just watching these people talk to each other using their hands. Then we felt it necessary to go an introduce ourselves. We only new basic signs but they were enough to explain to these people we had been observing that we were students at SCCC taking sign language. We were able to tell them our names and that was about all.

They attempted to explain who was deaf and who was hearing in their family, but it was pretty hard to understand everything that they were saying to us. They signed much faster than we were used to. They also added signs into conversations that we hadn't seen before.

As of today, I haven't signed in at least two years. And when you don't use it you lose it. I guess that's why Abby took the opportunity to sign even though she didn't have to. It keeps her in good practice.

'V' Versus NCIS: And The Winner Is..... [K. Moore]

Of course the winner is "NCIS". Also, according to Varitety.com's viewer counts for "NCIS" more men watch the show than women. The show's remarkable numbers make perfect sense when you consider the "NCIS" fan base: their wildly passionate about their show. I don't think that any "NCIS" fan would ever flip the channel to 'V' durring the commercial breaks on CBS to catch even a glimps of 'V' out of fear that they might miss one second of their favorite TV show.

Last Night's Episode Of NCIS [K. Moore]

Okay, so I didn't actually watch NCIS last night. I was really tired and took a nap. When I woke up NCIS: Los Angeles was on. I knew this wasn't the right show because LL. Cool J was there and I remembered reading something about him being on a different show. NCIS and NCIS: Los Angeles are NOT the same show.

But, I didn't want to let down any NCIS fanatics like Mary and her mother, so I remembered my post from Monday, and decided I could check out the show online.

It was great watching it on the internet because it cut out about 15 minutes of commercial breaks. I could pause it when needed and return to it at my own leisure.

The show started out Army vs. Navy. Two guys, one called Army and the other Navy were running for exercise when they stumbled across an abandoned car and a dead dude in a tie. He would later become known as the doctor responsible for brainwashing little girls into becoming hardcore assassins.

His death was described as a rather torturous act. He was shot in just the right places that he didn't die right away but was forced to suffer. I was intrigued.

Is any of this true? Can people really get shot in a certain place and die a torturous death?

It doesn't really matter. The show had me hooked it was almost like watching Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill with skilled female assassins tracking down their prey and killing them.

Again, in Monday's post, I asked the question, "Do you think NCIS is funny?" After seeing an episode, my answer is definitely, "I do." The show had quite a bit of humor thrown into it despite the serious content. Although there was one joke I didn't get.

Something about a question mark stuck in between two dollar signs.

Is this supposed to be some sort of text messaging pornographic code?

I also liked when the woman with the shot gun was compared to Sarah Palin. I haven't heard that name in a while.

Oh yeah, and the pilot was "Kai-jacked"-- Loved it!

I didn't care much for the end of the episode. I thought that the assassin just repeated everything that the doctor had said about her.

But, overall, the show was good. I've found myself taking a poll lately, and it seems that there are a lot of NCIS fans out there. And after seeing an episode for myself, I can understand why.

There were two other things that caught my attention about the show.

1) The director seems to love brunettes. Rarely do you find a show where all of the lead female roles are played by brunettes. They usually throw a blond in there somewhere.

2) What's with the old fashioned, bulky white computer screens that everyone in the NCIS office have? you'd think that Federal Agents would at least have the most current technology to work with. Schenectady County Community College doesn't even have those old monitors anymore.

NCIS: From Fiction to Fact [K. Moore]

No, the stars of NCIS are not real-life federal law enforcement destined to protect our national security.

However, on Nov. 24, the show will introduce some truth behind the myth of telvision by including a guest appearance by the actual Navy Secretary, Ray Mabus. Democratic, Ray Mabus, also served as the US Ambassador to Saudi Arabia and was a prevevious Govenor of the State of Mississippi. He seems to know his stuff when it comes to government and I sure it will be fun for residents of Missippi to watch their former Governor on such a cool TV show, one besides Saturday Night Live: (SNL usually features NY politicians these days).

The show will be a Thanksgiving themed episode, leaving me to wonder if Ray Mabus will be somebody's father on the show.

College Students, NCIS, And Other Shows: Link Round Up [K. Moore]

College kids are watching more TV these days and it’s not because they are giving up video games, talking on the phone, or other personal hobbies. One of the main reasons for the increase is online TV. Many college students have busy schedules and watching TV online allows them to watch the programs they missed when it is convenient.

The Cornell Daily Sun reported the top 10 television shows watched by college students: Making that list was my personal favorite, Grey’s Anatomy. NCIS did not make the list. In fact, none of the show’s crime investigation counterparts made the list. Perhaps interest in criminal justice is a dying field.

Students are spending the same amount of time watching TV as they spend on social networks. However, there are educational benefits of social networking sites like Facebook: 50% of students claim that they use these social networks solely for schoolwork and to discuss their learning and careers. Students report that these social networks are very creative and engaging, which also explains how they can become very time consuming.

Supporting The Daily Sun’s report, Media Post had reported, in June 2008, 62% of college students watch TV online. They credit laptops for becoming the main source of entertainment for college students since Mp3, downloadable programming, video gaming and TV viewing can all be done with the mobility of your laptop. Now since Netbooks, I am sure that percentage is rising.

Familiar Faces.

Every day, especially on Tuesdays, when I take the bus home from work, to get ready for a new episode of NCIS, I see the same people. The first person that I see every day is the bus driver. His name is Frank. I say hi, and go sit down. The bus then continues down the route. Frank is about 55 working to make a good life for himself and his wife Judy. They have a daughter named Megan. She is in college trying to make a way for herself. They also have one son named Bill, who works for the government, and has two children. Frank loves his family especially his grandchildren and spoils them rotten.

At the first stop an African-American woman with a grey pant-suit, and long black coat gets on. She is very thin with her hair tied back. She sits down and I wonder what she does. Is she a mother? No. Is she a college student? Yes. She attends The College of St. Rose. I notice this because I see her put her ID away. Her name is Melani, and she is 23. She is in her third year of school studying Criminal Justice. She takes out a book and begins to read. At the next stop an older gentleman gets on the bus. He has black bushy hair that goes down to his shoulders. He has on a military-style jacket with a black shirt under it. He also has on sneakers, and faded blue jeans. His name is Peter, and he is 45. He is retired from the military. He works for the state now. He sits down and waits until his stop comes.

I hear the announcement for my stop, and I pull the bell. On my way out I say thank you to Frank, and that I hope he has a good evening. I walk home.

Let me just start out by saying that I am not a fan of the show. I have very little time to watch TV with school, work, and two kids. However, I do have a show that I tune into faithfully and sometimes call to discuss with my friends and family-- Grey's Anatomy. (I'm so glad Izzy will be on again this Thursday night).

But, to each their own.

Life has been extra busy these days. Sometimes its good for you to take a step back and try something new. Something refreshing. Something that breaks up the monotonous routine. That's why I am taking the NCIS challenge: I will be guest blogging on Abby's Web this week. And, I hope to provide a new lens from which to view the show.

I am not going to promise that I am going to watch a ton of episodes to catch up and see what has been happening on the show this season.

I really don't have the time for that.

But, I will share my own thoughts about some of the show's peculiarities.

1. First time you weren't sober during work?

I am always sober at work. I only drink soda, coffee, or tea, before work.

2. First time you got pulled over?

I don't drive. So I have never been pulled over.

3. First time that you could legally consume alcohol?

The first time I had an alcoholic beverage, was in New York City on my 21'st birthday.

4. First time that you wrecked something out of anger?

After I had gotten bad news, I picked up a piece of junk mail, and ripped it into as many pieces as I could.

5. First time someone got into a fight with me?

When I was at a community college, it was a verbal argument.

6. First time you were cheated on?

I have never been cheated on.

7. First time you realized that the Yankees are the best team in baseball?

I first realized that the Yankees are the best team, when I went to my first Yankees game when I was 8.

8. First time you had a conversation with a homeless person?

It was 4 years ago when I first moved up to Albany to go to school. I just said hello.

9. First time you drove more than 3 hours consecutively?

Again, I don't drive. But If I could drive more than 3 hours consecutively I would.

10. First time you met your neighbors?

I would say the first time that I met my neighbors was 4 years ago when I first moved into my apartmet.

11. First time a cop came into your house?

I was about 10 and I was home sick from school. I had gotten a strange phone call, and got so freaked out that I called my mom. That evening a cute cop came to our house to check on everything.

12. First time you talked your way out of trouble?

The first time that I had to talk my way out of trouble was when I was late to class in elementary school. My teacher wanted to know where I had been.

Being asked to tell what I hate about my life is tough because I don't really hate much. I mean I watch NCIS, so how could I hate anything? I guess if I had to pick one thing that I hate (don't like) about my life I would have to say, not being able to drive, and having to rely on the city buses would be it.

Although the city buses get me from point A to point B, I still feel that there is always going to be one thing that I will have to rely on other people for. I don't mind having to rely on the bus in the spring, summer or fall. The only time I really ,hate, having to rely on the bus, is in the winter, when it is raining, and when I am in a hurry.

Taking the bus is not a bad thing, I have some really awesome conversations with different people on the bus. Plus one of my really good friends is a bus driver. I just really wish I could drive.

Who is Michael Weatherly?

Michael Weatherly is a deceptively young looking actor. At 41, he projects the image of a 30 year old. He plays the incredibly attractive Special Agent Anthony Dinozzo, on NCIS. His character is always playing practical jokes, especialy on McGee.

Before becoming a member of the NCIS team in 2003 he landed several different roles. The first of those roles was in 1991 on the long running television series "The Cosby Show."

After appearing in the Cosby show, Michael took the role of "Cooper Alden" in two television soap opras called "Loving" and "The City."

In 1996 Michael played the role of Dr. Mathew Rogers in the NBC- TV Movie "Asteroid." In 1997 he then appeared in "Spy Game" and the movie "Meet Wally Sparks."

In 1998 Michael appeared in various episodes of "Significant Others," "Jesse," and one of my all-time favorite television shows, "Charmed," in an episode named "When Bad Warlocks Turn Good," where he plays a troubled warlock who wants to become a priest.

Also in 1998 he appeared in the movies "The Last Days of Disco" and "Gun Shy." In 1999 Michael appeared in the Canadian series "The Crow: Stairway to Heaven." Later that year he was in the made for TV movies "Winding Roads, "and "Cabin by the Lake."

In 2000 Michael was in the movie "The Specials" where he played a superhero. He was also in the movie "Venus and Mars." Along with those movies he was in the television series "Ally McBeal," and "Grapvine."

Between 2000 and 2002 Michael's main focus was on the television show "Dark Angel." He was acting opposite then girlfriend Jessica Alba.

Lastly, in 2003 right before he took the role of Dinozzo on NCIS, he was on the show "JAG" alongside fellow agent Sean Murray.

At this time, while simultaneously making movies, he is playing my favorite role of Special Agent Anthony Dinozzo of NCIS.

Sean Murray is a 32-year-old actor, best known for playing Special Agent Timothy McGee, on NCIS. On the show he plays a cute computer nerd, who is given several nick names from Dinozzo. One of the names that he was given is "McGeek."

Before becoming an NCIS agent in 2003, he took on several other roles. One of those roles includes a non-computer nerd on JAG.

In 1991 Sean took on the role of Joe Junior in the movie "Backfield in Motion." Then in 1992 he played the character "Tim" in the film "Too Romantic."

In 1993 he played the role of Thackery Binks where he is turned into a cat, in the modern classic "Hocus Pocus." He also starred in "This Boy's Life" with Leonardo DiCaprio, and "River of Rage: The Taking of Maggie Keene."

In 1995 he focused mainly on television shows such as "Silk Stalkings," "ER," and "Trial by Fire."

Between 1996 and 2003, Sean appeared in several other television shows and movies such as "The Lottery," "Fall Into Darkness," and "For My Daughter's Honor."

In 1997 he was in the "Sleepwalker Killing," and "Touched by Angel." In 2000 he made a cameo in "Boston Public," and in 2002 "The Random Years."

As of now Sean is starring as Timothy McGee in NCIS. I believe this role to be his best role yet.

Abby Sciuto Attends A Halloween Party.

I love Halloween.

It is one of my favorite Holidays.
It gives people a chance to dress up and become something other than who they are.

This past Saturday, I went to a Halloween party with my sister. Being a huge fan of NCIS, it was no surprise that I went as Abby Sciuto. My sister Margaret went as someone who was celebrating the wrong Holiday. She went as someone who thought it was St. Patrick's Day. I thought that was clever.

The party was being thrown by my sister's best friend Susan and her sister Becky. It was a themed party. The theme of the party was a wedding reception. Susan was the corpse bride, and Becky was a vampire, also the maid of honor.

Everyone was in character so I figured that I would become as much like Abby as I could. I started looking around, as though I was investigating a crime scene. Needless to say, there was no real crime to investigate.

I had a lot of fun at the party. Not to mention the fact that I got to take on the persona of one of my favorite characters. Becoming Abby Sciuto for the party, allowed a part of my personality to come out, that I am not always comfortable to bring out. I am not the most confident or outgoing person, so when I dress up as Abby I become more confident and sure of myself.

Thank you for creating NCIS.

I love watching the show every week.

One of my favorite aspects of the show is the relationships between the characters. Abby and McGee's relationship is so sweet. Abby is by far my favorite character. Another thing that I love is the father daughter relationship between Gibbs and Abby.

My all time favorite relationship is between Ziva and Tony. It would make me really happy to see the two of them get together. Ever since last season fans could tell that there was some romantic tension between them. I'm sure other fans are eager to know, are they going to get together?

Please keep that in mind, because I think that would be awesome if they became an item.

New NCIS Soundtrack Volume 2.

Another NCIS soundtrack, NCIS volume 2 is going to be released.

Several different artists are going to be on this soundtrack: Bob Dylan; Norah Jones; Joss Stone; Sick Puppies; Sharon Little; John Mellencamp; Sheryl Crow; Keaton Simmons; Otis Redding; Michael Weatherly; Saosin, and Tom Lehrer. If you're reading this and did a double take when you saw Michael Weatherly as one of the artists, you saw right: Dinozzo is going to be singing.

Some of the songs that are going to be on the soundtrack are original to the show. In fact the song by Michael Weatherly called "Bitter and Blue," and the song by Bob Dylan called "California" are both exclusively written and produced for the show. The song by Bob Dylan is going to be featured in the November 3rd episode.

It is going to be an awesome soundtrack to complement the first.

Like millions of other NCIS fans I have my calendar marked for November 3rd.

Will McGee Attend Frequency North?

Being a writer on the show, Special Agent Timothy McGee needs to find a source of inspiration. McGee needs a source that allows him to base the characters and story lines on something other than his fellow team members. In his first book titled Deep Six he did just that. One place that could be a source of inspiration could be a reading series called Frequency North.

Now you may be wondering what Frequency North is ? It is a reading series that is held at The College of St. Rose. It is organized through the English department. During the year there are several installments. The first installment was held on October 8th. The first author who read was Peter Conners. He wrote a book titled: Growing up Dead: The Hallucinated Confessions of a Teenage Deadhead. Jessica Anthony was the second author to read. She wrote a book titled: The Convalescent.

I found both of the writers to be very influential. I liked the way they both used their experiences when deciding what they wanted to write about. I mean when you hear someone like Peter Conners who writes about their love of something in his case The Grateful Dead, it shows a lot of dedication and that inspires me. His enthusiasm was awe inspiring.

Jessica Anthony then reads from her book, in her book she writes about a guy who lives in a bus and sells meat from it, and all the experiences he goes through. At first I thought "selling meat out of a bus and living out of that bus...who does that" but as the reading goes on you see that the main character Rovar Akos Pfliegman has other experiences. Those experiences make the book a hilarious must read.

Both Peter Conners and Jessica Anthony have presented different ways of writing, along with different ways of deciding what to write. If you're an up and coming writer in need of inspiration, then go to an installment of Frequency North and be inspired. Who knows McGee might show up as well.

NCIS: Passion, Obsession, Identity Or Insanity?

I have often heard it said that the definition of insanity is, doing something over and over again, while expecting there to be a different outcome. If that is the case then I am insane.

I realize now that it is completely insane and crazy, to look at the characters' biographies on an almost daily basis. They don't change. Then why do I do it?

That is a fair question. It has a lot to do with the fact that it does not change. Knowing that they stay the same gives me something that I can rely on, something that I am able to be a part of.

Now you're probably thinking how does it give me something to rely on? That is another good question. It does so because it assures me that at least one thing in my life is going to stay the same.

Let me explain. I am not one who likes or does well with change. I know that change is inevitable, but I don't like it. I did not like when Kate and Jenny were killed off the show. I also did not like when Director Vance came in, and took Jennies place as Director of NCIS.

I need to have some sort of consistency in my life, a routine, a comfort food of sorts. That is why, I can count on being able to watch a new episode of NCIS every week. That also applies to my being able to watch the older episodes over again, along with being able to read the various character biographies.

In terms of having something I can feel that I am a part of, I feel that I can relate to the different characters in the show. Each of the characters becomes like a family member, because you get to know them so well.

Aside from getting to know all the different characters better, I feel that I can relate to some of the particular characters. I don't know if this is the case with all fans. I know that as I watch the show I can identify with what the different characters are going through.

This might not come as a surprise to anyone who knows me and my NCIS obsession. But I can relate most of all to Abby Sciuto. Like me, she wants to always make people happy. Reading the biographies is almost like looking at a specific episode of NCIS over and over again. But there are differences.

It is similar to reading the biographies because it is the same episode that I have watched several times. I know every line in the show and every joke. It is also different because each time that I am watch an episode over again, there are things that I catch, that I missed the first time that I saw it.

Well is it a passion for the show that I have? An obsession for the show? or is it an identity of mine?

I think it's all three. And I love it.

I read the characters biographies almost every day. Am I obsessed? Ok well yes, I am. I feel connected to the characters all the time. I know it is crazy. The bios stay the same, and I guess that is why--they are a constant. Is it passion, obsession or insanity?

A Fan's Review Of NCIS (E3).

Last night's NCIS episode can be summed up in one word:

Amazing!

Key Moments:

The episode begins with a reporter working on his computer in his car as he waits to meet with a source. He gets out of his car to wait on the side of the bridge. All of a sudden you see him fall from the bridge covered in blood.

Gibbs walks in and says we have a dead body. Tony and McGee try to guess what it is. They are then surprised when Gibbs tells then that it is a blogger named Matt Burns.

When they get to the scene of the crime, Gibbs asks one of the detectives "Matt Burns death may be related to a case we are working on, what can you tell us?"

Some of My Favorite moments:

We see the whole team --Tony, Ziva, and McGee-- work at their desks. Tony does his normal goofy antics. McGee talks on the phone wondering why he had to take a polygraph test over again. Ziva also works on her computer.

Continuing their brotherly love, Tony picks on McGee and attempts to make him think that something is wrong. In this case he attempts to convince McGee that he failed his polygraph test.

Tony then notices that Gibbs is there and asks him if he ever failed a polygraph test. "Nope, never took one" Gibbs deadpans.

SPOILER ALETS:
As the show goes on they figure out that there was not an NCIS cover up. The issue was that a marine from the case that they were working on and a civilian, were involved in a stock market scheme, and Burns was on to them. Burns died because they didn't want to be exposed. Also, McGee didn't fail his polygraph test. The examiner wanted to see him again.

I can't wait till next week for another wonderful episode of NCIS.

Why Am I Such A Fan?

So many people ask me what it is about the show NCIS that I like?

There are several different reasons as to why I like the show.

1. I love the various actors on the show.

2. The characters: Abby, McGee, Tony, Gibbs, Ziva, and Ducky are amazing.

3. The relationship dynamic between Tony and Ziva is so appetizing.

4. Gibb's and Abby's father daughter relationship, so sweet.

5. Abby and McGee's quirky relationship, so cute.

6. When Gibbs slaps Tony on the back of the head, love it.

7. I love the plot twists in every show.

Can The Magic Be Recaptured?

So,

I've watched the first two episodes of NCIS Los Angeles. I'll admit that it is a decent show.

The show's lead characters "G" Callen (Chris O'Donnell) and Sam Hanna (LL Cool J) are the shows principal characters. They are the two that do the majority of the field work when investigating a case. I love the chemistry between the two. The following clip shows that chemistry.

The other characters on the show are just background to me. There doesn't seem to be much chemistry between them.

That lack of chemistry between the other characters is why I am not yet convinced that it is going to be as big as the original. I mean how can it be?

It doesn't have the characters that make the original NCIS the hit that it is.

The fact that it is a crime investigation show is not what makes NCIS such a great show, it is the dynamic of the characters and how they relate to one another that makes the show what it is.

Without the timely slaps on the back of the head that Tony gets from Gibbs and the comedic interactions that McGee and Tony have the show just wouldn't be the same.

Not to mention if there were no Abby, with her quirky antics and lovable nature it just wouldn't have the same appeal. I mean, we've already experienced NCIS without Ziva and quite frankly I didn't like it.

So can the magic of the original NCIS be recaptured in the spinoff? I am very skeptical.

If you take a show with a cast of characters that people love and adore, then why try to mess with that by making a new show and saying or hoping that it can be as good as the original?

This reminds me of the old saying: "if it's not broken don't try to fix it" so if you have a show like NCIS, that you know works, why mess with it?

NCIS Los Angeles is a good show and I'll watch it. There are good actors, a couple of good characters but i am not sure about it's being as big as NCIS.

Well lets wait and see.

A Fan's Review Of NCIS (E2).

Last night's episode was amazing.

It had Tony, McGee, Gibbs, Ducky, and Abby investigating a triple homicide. The only thing that was missing was Ziva.
Key Moments:

Ziva was still at NCIS although she was not involved with what the team was doing because she was not reinstated. She was, however, actively trying to get back in the game and join the team again.

She first went to Gibbs. He mentions that she needed to talk to Vance, Tony, McGee, and Abby.

Vance wasn't fully convinced that she wasn't still working with her father who was director of Mossad, and that she was emotionally stable to handle the job. He did say that she had to have a psychological evaluation and if she passed she could come back. She was fully appreciative of Vance's consideration.

Some of My Favorite Moments:

As Ziva is waiting for her evaluation, she walks by the squadroom. Tony and McGee are trying to figure out an aspect of the case. She gives her opinion of what they could do. This shows, that she is definitely part of the team and her eagerness to come back.

Ziva had to reconnect with the different member's of the team. The first was with Abby, during this time Abby sort of put Ziva in her place. She lets Ziva know that she needs to fix things with Tony, and that she was wrong for not being able to trust him. This made Ziva think, and happy to know that Abby cared.

The encounter with McGee happened when he saw her sitting outside. During this moment she thanked him, and then he asked her why she was not talking to Tony. She then goes and talks to Tony. In her conversation with him she says that she was very upset with him and felt that she couldn't trust him after what he did, and then she realizes she was wrong and says sorry.

She kisses Tony on the cheek. When I saw this kiss I cheered, smiled and said "way to go Ziva". This is something that every NCIS fan has been waiting for.

Finally she has a meeting with Gibbs where she talks to him about being reinstated and to get his trust back. She also refers to him as a father to her.

So is all the team back together?

SPOILER ALERT: In the final scene you see Ziva, Tony, and McGee sitting at their desks, and all are smiling. So yes the team is together again.

I loved everything about this episode. I can't wait till next week's NCIS.

NCIS Round Up.

Because I am such an NCIS nerd, there are several sites that I visit on a daily basis. I look at these sites while listening to the NCIS soundtrack.

As a fan of the show, I wanted to know what people thought of the much anticipated season 7 premiere. Maybe it is because of my NCIS nerdiness. I don't know.One of the sites that I went to was Entertainment Weekly: Popwatch. On this site Mandi Beirly reviewed the season premiere episode of NCIS and she used a lot of humor in telling people what happened without actually telling what happened.

There are two other reviews that I read; they are by Allisson Waldman and Gerald So. Allisson Waldman wrote about how 20 million people watched the shows season premiere. Along with giving the stats she also gave a recap of the show. Gerald So at BCSreview starts his recap of the show with how he enjoyed the different scenes where Tony and McGee were interviewing women to take Ziva's place. When I read this I was thinking no one can take Ziva's place.

Those are the review sites that I look at every Wednesday after the NCIS episode the night before.

During the week, aside from the reviews, I look at the official NCIS site. I look at the cast biographies NCIS and the recaps. My favorite NCIS actor link to look at on the site is the Pauley Perrette link. She plays my favorite character on the show Abby Sciuto, the namesake of this blog.

Now I didn't forget about the actors who play Ziva, Tony, Gibbs, or McGee, I also look at the Cote de Pablo, Michael Weatherly, Mark Harmon, and Sean Murray biographies.

Lastly, I have to go to YouTube and watch different clips and interviews with the actors. My favorite one to watch is NCIS Roundtable. I love to watch this because it is awesome to see the dynamic between the actors is the same between the characters that they play in the show.

Steps To Being An NCIS Fan.

The steps:

Step 1: I watch the episode of NCIS every week, on Tuesday nights at 8:00 pm on CBS.

Step 2: When it's 8:00 and the show is about to come on I put an away message up on AOL Instant Messenger.

Step3: I don't answer my phone during the hour that NCIS is on because I don't want to miss a minute of the show. If I get hungry or anything during the episode, I wait until there is a commercial.

Step 4: When that week's episode is over I call my mother and talk to her about what happened. We both give our opinion of the episode. If we were surprised by something, or if we didn't like what a particular character did.

Step 5: We also talk about what we think is going on between the different characters. We discuss whether Ziva and Tony are going to get together, along with whether McGee and Abby are going to get together. We also talk about how we love Abby and Gibbs.

Step 6: The next day I go on the CBS website and click on the NCIS link. When I'm on that page I read the recap of the previous night's episode. I also watch the episode a second time, maybe even a third time.

Step 7: At least 2 or three times a day, I go and look at different NCIS related websites.

Step 8: At least 3 times a day I go to YouTube and watch different interviews with the cast and behind the scenes clips. I also watch various clips of the show.
Step 9: Another step to being an NCIS fan is owning the DVD sets of the show from all previous 6 seasons and also owning the soundtrack.
Step 10: The final step in being a fan of NCIS is constantly talking about it and I constantly talk about how much I love Abby and the show.
So if you see yourself doing the things that I have just mentioned, then you know that you are a fan of NCIS.

Big Night For NCIS Fans (E1).

Tonight was a big night for all NCIS fans...myself included.

It was the season premiere of NCIS, as well as the series premiere of the spinoff NCIS: Los Angeles.

The season premiere of NCIS was amazing, so many twists and turns.

Every NCIS fan was expecting to see Ziva continuing to be interrogated by her captor. However, when the episode begins Tony is in her place. When I saw that I was in shock.

There were a lot of flash backs during the episode. If you watched the show, you saw what went on in the months leading up to his being there.

Key Moments:
During the show there were instances where Saleem (the captor) asks Tony who NCIS is, who the team members are and what they do. This is a key moment because it can help new NCIS fan's become familiar with the show.

Some of My Favorite Moments:
One of my favorite moments of the show was when Tony was talking to Saleem and said "Ziva can't be replaced."

Another one of my favorite moments was when Gibbs, Abby, Tony, and McGee were doing everything they could to find out where Ziva might be. They did not believe that she was dead.

When Vance turns down Tony's idea to find Ziva, Gibbs asks if there is anyone who wants to volunteer. Tony automatically volunteers throwing McGee's name in the mix. This was another one of my favorite moments.

When Ziva sees Tony and McGee, she asks "why did you come? Tony replies "Couldn't live without you." This was another of my favorite moments; it shows how he feels about her.

As if fans didn't know.

So Tony, McGee, and Gibbs go on a secret mission to get Ziva back.

SPOILER ALERT: Towards the end of the episode it was revealed that Ziva was still alive. This happened when Tony and Ziva were shown sitting face to face. Ziva was rescued and brought back to NCIS. The team is reunited.

The spinoff was good. I liked the premise behind it. It had more of a CSI feel to it. I will continue to watch.

My name is Mary and I love to watch NCIS. It is by far my favorite show on TV. It's a show about a team of special agents who work for Naval Criminal Investigative Services and solve cases that are Marine- or Navy- related. My never ending love for this show is why I have decided to create a blog around it.

Each week I will watch NCIS and I will focus in on the characters and what they experience within that episode. I will also blog about my feelings regarding the episode, as well as share my opinion of the new spinoff.

Within the blog there will be a section about the characters, where you can click on the links to various pictures. In that section there will be pictures of the characters, as well as links to their bios.

In addition to that I will discuss what it takes to be an NCIS fan. I will also discuss how a person can tell if they are one. There will also be video posts from time to time, to show my true enthusiasm and love of the show.

Another thing that this blog will feature is a place for people to comment on how they like the show.Lastly there will be pictures of the different characters on posts.

About the name of the blog

Being my favorite character in the show, this blog is named after Abby Sciuto. She is a forensic scientist at NCIS who interacts with all the other characters on the show.

She has a tattoo of a spider web on the back of her neck. The web has a couple of meanings; one being that it represents the interconnectedness between the different characters.
